Compounding
Compounding is a vital and specialized practice within the field of pharmacy that involves the preparation of customized medications tailored to meet the unique needs of individual patients. Unlike commercially available drugs, compounded medications are created by pharmacists to address specific requirements, such as unique dosages, alternative delivery methods (e.g., creams, gels, or lozenges), or the removal of allergens or inactive ingredients that a patient may not tolerate.
This personalized approach ensures that patients receive the most effective and safe treatment, especially when standard medications are not suitable. Compounding requires a deep understanding of pharmaceutical science, precise techniques, and adherence to strict quality and safety standards. It bridges the gap between patient needs and available medications, offering a flexible and patient-centered solution in healthcare.
Whether it’s creating a pediatric-friendly liquid formulation, a preservative-free topical cream, or a medication in a specific strength, compounding empowers pharmacists to provide innovative and compassionate care. It’s a blend of art and science, ensuring every patient gets the right medication, in the right form, at the right dose.
To ensure timely refills, please request them 2 to 3 days in advance.
We will notify you as soon as your compounded medication is ready for pickup or delivery.
Certain Compounds cannot be billed directly as they lack specific Identification numbers. In such cases, we can provide you with a detailed receipt to submit manually for your claim.
Bio-identical hormones have been used over 20 years to meet the needs of women (in pre-menopause, menopause and post-menopause) and men (in andropause). Bio-identical hormone treatment helps both women and men restore hormonal imbalances and help reduce or treat symptoms caused by this imbalance.
Symptoms of hormonal imbalances in women include depression, mood alterations, sleep disturbances, hot flashes, hair loss, fatigue, weight problems, bone loss (osteoporosis), and decreased sex drive.
Symptoms of hormonal imbalances in men include: decreased energy, sleep disturbance, mood alterations, depression, muscle weakness, erectile dysfunction, and decreased sex drive.
Bio-identical hormones include Estrone (E1), Estradiol (E2), Estriol (E3), Progesterone, Testosterone, Dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA), and Pregnenolone. Our pharmacists work together with patients and prescribers to provide customized bio-identical hormone replacement therapy that provides the needed hormones in the most appropriate strength and dosage form to meet each individual’s specific needs. Hormone replacement therapy should be initiated carefully after an initial medical checkup and after the family history has been reviewed. Every individual is unique and will respond to therapy in their own way. Close monitoring and medication adjustments are essential.

Compounding allows veterinarians to broaden their prescribing abilities and to offer dosage forms that are patient-specific in strength and formulation. The compounding pharmacist can solve a lot of problems for both the doctor and the owner – certain medications may be available only in human dosage forms or exist only as bulk chemicals; specific products may no longer be available; the dosage strength of commercially available product may be too big for the small animal or too little for the horse; the taste or flavour may be too disagreeable for the animal. Compounders also work on problems of many exotic animals.
